Page 1 of 3 “Development of High Performance Diagnostic Array Replication Technology” SME-driven collaborative research projects for developing tools and technologies for high-throughput research Project call: FP7-HEALTH-2007-1.1-4 Project #: Website: Project Abstract Since their introduction just over a decade ago, DNA microarrays have already demonstrated an enormous potential for producing valuable insight into disease states. In their many forms, these multiplex devices can provide tens to millions of data points which can be useful for patient diagnosis, prognosis or stratification for therapy. Together, these concepts describe an essential piece in the coming age of personalised cancer medicine. It is the aim of the present HiPerDART project to develop a higher standard (clinical) microarray technology platform, by using a highly innovative probe printing technology called Supramolecular NanoStamping (SuNS). SuNS technology harnesses the inherent biological ability of DNA to self-replicate – thereby allowing the production of a “molecular photocopy” from a DNA microarray. This highly innovative probe printing process generates and transfers nucleic acid molecules from one surface onto another, without the loss of spatial resolution, in a fast and robust manner with low associated production costs. |
